Irene Liotis Issue
hello!Welcome. You're online with one of Maryland's longest-running literary epics: Maryland State Poetry & Literary Society.  Read more about us here.

NEW!
Our web site has two new features:

   and

KIDS' PAGE is devoted to the littler poets among us, and is interactive!

Society's Page  is our new newsletter that appears in Lite Circle, Inc., Baltimore's Literary Newspaper.  Here is an electronic edition.

Also new, The Century of the Millennium issue will soon be available at these outlets. Individuals, booksellers and institutions may also order copies of this issue and many back issues of Maryland Poetry Review, as well as other MSP&LS publications.

More About Us

Where are we?
You will find us at reading series, at Baltimore's ArtScape, at the Baltimore Book Festival, at most of the area's
better bookstores, on the radio, on the web, in the newspapers.  We like to be wherever poetry and people converge.

What do we look like?
Maryland Poetry Review, is our flagship publication.  In it we publish some of the best poetry found in America and feature art from around the state.  Our editorial staff blends in everywhere -- we look just like you.

What do we do?
We host readings; we publish books, Maryland Poetry Review, and the newsletter Society's Page; we sponsor the annual Egan poetry contest; we work with the Maryland State Arts Council and with kids in the schools; we support the literary community.

Who are we?
We are:

Rosemary Klein, editor-in-chief and one of the original poets who got MSP&LS up and running in 1986.
Barbara Simon, managing editor and the one who sees all the mail of all sorts first.
Hugh Burgess, assistant editor and the one who keeps the poems moving.
Dan Cuddy, contributing editor and the one who keeps the books.
Blair Ewing, contributing editor and the one who conceptualized "Word Up! Baltimore."
Steven Cunningham, contributing editor and the one who maintains the webpage.

However, since we're an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, we all wear many hats.

The Maryland Poetry Review is made possible with funding through
the State Board of the Maryland State Poetry
& Literary Society and a grant
from the Maryland State Arts Council.
